Directed by Ousmane Sembene

Called "the most seminal work of African cinema" (Ephraim Katz, The Film Encyclopedia), this short film launched the career of Ousmane Sembene, the most important filmmaker of sub-Saharan Africa. The film follows a horse-cart driver in Dakar struggling through the day and witnessing the immense gap between the poor and the bourgeoisie. French with English subtitles.  20 minutes.
