"El Polaquito"
2003
Directed by Juan Carlos Desanzo
A 13 year-old Argentine street urchin makes his
living by busking on commuter trains. While working at the Buenos Aires
Central Station one day, the youngster falls in love with a teenage
prostitute who is working against her will for the local mob. To rescue
her, "El Polaquito" must confront the most violent organization in the
city without regard to risk or consequences. Strong performances help
bolster Juan Carlos Desanzo's gritty urban drama, which has much to say
about the social inequalities in contemporary Argentina. Based on a true
story. With Abel Ayala, Marina Glezer, Fernando Roa, and Roly Serrano.
Spanish with English subtitles.
92 minutes. |
