"The Goddess of 1967"
Directed by Clara Law
After relocating to Australia and filming Floating
Life, Hong Kong director Clara Law set about constructing this
elliptical story about a Japanese man who travels to Australia to purchase
his dream car, his "Goddess," only to find the seller dead. Luckily, he
meets a beautiful, blind 17-year-old girl, played by Rose Byrne (Marie
Antoinette), and they embark on an intoxicating, erotic journey through
the desolate outback. A trip ripe with flashbacks to her troubled past, and
shot with true experimental flare. "Utterly postmodern in story and
style...hip" (Variety). English and Japanese with English subtitles.
