"The Day The Sun Turned
Cold"
1994
Directed by Yim Ho
A young welder in
Northern China transforms the lives of those closest to him when he goes
into a police station to accuse someone of having murdered his long-dead
father. At first the police are sceptical, but as they listen they become
intrigued and reopen the investigation concerning the dead man. This
film's beguiling flashback-laden narrative magically captures the harsh
reality of the Northern provinces of China. Mandarin with English
subtitles. 99 minutes.
