"A Prayer for Katarina Horovitzova"
1969/1991
Directed by Antonin Moskalyk

Originally made in 1969, this powerful film based on Arnost Lustig's award-winning novel was confiscated by the Czech Communist government and kept on the shelf for 21 years. This videotape is literally the re-discovered U.S. and world premiere. Awarded the top prize at the Monte Carlo Film and Television Festival and winner of eight other international prizes, it is the story of a beautiful Polish singer and her passion for life, set against the backdrop of the cruel game of trading Jewish lives for those of Nazi officers imprisoned in American jails. With Jiri Adamira, Lenka Fiserova and Cestmir Randa. Czech with English subtitles. 60 minutes.
