"Wilbur (Wants to Kill Himself)"
2004
Directed by Lone Scherfig
Dogme 95 filmmaker Lone Scherfig (Italian for
Beginners) wrote and directed this warm, humanistic comedy about a
pair of brothers (played by Jamie Sives and Adrian Rawlins) who look after
one another after the passing of their parents. Their respective
relationships with a hospital janitor and her sunny daughter imbue both
boys with a new sense of clarity and meaning in their lives. "One of the
most exquisitely life-affirming and love-affirming cinematic experiences
of the year" (Andrew Sarris, New York Observer).
