"The Bride Wore Black"
1968
Directed by Francois Truffaut
Francois Truffaut's stylish and
suspenseful homage to Hitchcock stars a stone-faced Jeanne Moreau tracking
down and killing (each in a unique way) the five men responsible for her
husband's accidental death. A very odd and dark film, it contains many
masterful stylistic flourishes and is further highlighted by an eerie,
atmospheric musical score from Bernard Herrmann. Beautifully photographed
by Raoul Coutard. French with English subtitles. 107
minutes. |
