"Children of the Century"
1999
Directed by Diane Kurys

The torrid love affair between 19th century writer George Sand aka Baroness Dudevant (Juliette Binoche) and poet Alfred de Musset (Benoit Magimel) is explored in this period piece from French director Diane Kurys. Fuelled by impulsive bursts of creativity, passion, and emotion, the lovers created a scandal in Parisian literary circles for their wild abandonment of social mores, both in their writings and in their affair. "An intimate contemplation of two marvelously messy lives" (Andrew Sarris, New York Observer). French with English subtitles.  117 minutes.
