"Forbidden Games"
1952
Directed by Rene Clement
Rene Clement's
beautiful allegory is the story of two children orphaned by the war who build a secret
cemetery for animals and steal crosses from the church yard to mark the graves.
Wonderfully natural performances from Georges Pojouly, whom Clement discovered in a camp,
and Brigitte Fossey create a moving film about the effects of war on children. Winner at
the Venice Film Festival and Best Foreign Film Oscar. French with English subtitles.
90 minutes.
