"Jacquot de Nantes"
Directed by Agnes Varda
Agnes Varda's loving
tribute to her late husband, Jacques Demy, begins in Nantes in 1938 with a boy obsessed
with movies. This 8-year-old makes puppets for little operettas. As he grows older his
obsession never dies, even though his father makes him study mechanics. A number of happy
childhood events animate this captivating film about a man who grows up and yet retains a
youthful delight in fantasy that shapes his enduring vision and makes him a master of the
French musical. French with English subtitles.
