"Je, Tu, Il, Elle"
("I, You, He, She")
1974
Directed by Chantall Akerman

Chantal Akerman's first feature moves like a process or a journey, most likely one from youth into adulthood. Akerman stars as the protagonist of the film, whom we first discover in her apartment compulsively eating raw sugar, reading aloud and rearranging her furniture. She hits the road and after various misadventures finds herself at the home of a woman she loves. The heavy silence underscores themes of estrangement and alienation. With Niels Arestrup and Claire Wauthion. French with English subtitles.
90 minutes.
