"La Vie de Chateau"
1965
Directed by
Jean-Paul Rappeneau

Catherine Deneuve and Philippe Noiret star in the fine directorial debut of Jean-Paul Rappeneau (The Horseman on the Roof). The leads play a quietly dissatisfied couple whose placid life becomes chaotic when German soldiers occupy their chateau and a Free French agent claims to be in love with Deneuve. Claude Sautet (Nelly and Monsieur Arnaud) contributed to the screenplay. "Rappeneau manages a dose of charm and a sense of the comic which he would seldom repeat" (Faber Companion to Foreign Films). French with English subtitles.  90 minutes.
