Erich von Stroheim, Arletty, Maria Montez and Pierre Brasseur star in this engrossing offering of melodrama and suspense. A carnival daredevil (Brasseur) botches a murder attempt on his wife (Arletty), accidentally wounding the seductive carnival owner (Montez). Lucky for him, she likes bad boys, and soon they are involved in a passionate affair. The daredevil's wife continues to cause problems for them, however, as does the owner's former lover (von Stroheim). French with English subtitles. 86 minutes.
