"Testament of Orpheus"

Directed by Jean Cocteau

In his last film, legendary writer, painter, filmmaker Jean Cocteau portrays an 18th century poet who travels through time on a quest for divine wisdom.  In a mysterious wasteland, he meets symbolic phantoms who bring about his death and resurrection.  Testament of Orpheus comes full circle, completing the journey he began in Blood of a Poet.  An eclectic cast includes Yul Brynner and both Pablo Picasso and his wife.  Also with Edouard Dermit and Maria Casarès.  French with English subtitles, B&W with color sequences.  79 minutes.
