"Two Or Three Things I Know About
Her"
1966
Directed by Jean-Luc Godard
Shot simultaneously with
Made in U.S.A. (one was filmed mornings, the other in the
evenings), this drama focuses on modern life in Paris. Vlady stars as a
Parisian housewife who lives in a large housing estate and supplements her
husband's income by working as a part-time prostitute. Against an aural
backdrop of Beethoven, her life over a 24-hour period is detailed as it
speaks about the sale of oneself in the pursuit of happiness. A barrage of
words, images and philosophising, with whispering and narration by Godard,
this highly inventive and energetic, early "mockumentary" set
the standard for such works. French with English subtitles.
95 minutes.
