"Lysistrata"

Aristophanes' ancient Greek play is brought to life in this new adaptation starring Jenny Karezi and Costas Kazakos. Lysistrata is the Athenian woman disgusted by the way men have ruined the country with their endless war. Rallying other women, she proposes that they impose an embargo on sexual relations with men as long as the war lasts. The film liberates the action from the stage, places it on location in the acropolis, and renders Aristophanes' plea in a forceful manner. Greek with English subtitles.
