The rise and fall of the great Greek poet Napoleon Lapathiotis is dramatized in this exceptionally well-acted feature. The film poignantly portrays the poet's turbulent life as a communist sympathizer, his struggles with drug addiction, and his openly gay lifestyle, which caused a scandal in the conservative society of Athens. Director Takis Spetsiotis "has avoided the cliches of the typical film biography.
