This romantic drama made headlines in Iran when its director was kidnapped by arch-conservatives and left to die in the desert. (He was later rescued.) The story follows Daniel, who is in love with fellow university student Mahtab, whose father is campaigning for segregated classes at the university. Daniel's association with an ultra-religious group and Mahtab's sympathies with the reformists push the couple further apart. After his love letter to Mahtab is made public, the couple flees Tehran for the countryside, but their attempt to return to the city is a nightmare through a dangerous wasteland.
