"The Boys and Girl From County
Clare"
2005
Directed by John Irvin
A charming Celtic comedy
from British filmmaker John Irvin, this loving paean to fiddle reels and
pints of stout stars Colm Meaney as a Liverpulian musician who rounds up
his band for a run at the All-Ireland Traditional Music Championship in
County Clare, Ireland. Performing is the least of the fiddler's problems,
however, as he's forced to square off against his estranged brother
(Bernard Hill) and an ex-flame (Charlotte Bradley). "An irresistible Irish
comedy, lovingly told, beautifully acted and graced with the perfect
balance of chuckles and bittersweet heartache" (Chicago Tribune).
