"Intermission"
2004
Directed by John Crowley
The lives of a dozen
suburban Dublin residents intersect in various comedic, absurd and often
violent manners in this quirky ensemble piece featuring some of Britain's
finest. A petty thief/street punk (Colin Farrell, Phone Booth) sets
the chain into motion when he suggests to his love-sick friend (Cillian
Murphy, 28 Days Later) that they rob the bank where his
ex-girlfriend's new beau works. As the plan progresses, their entire
circle of friends find themselves in hot water. Also stars Kelly
MacDonald, Michael McElhatton, David Wilmot, Brian F. O'Byrne, Shirley
Henderson and Colm Meany in a great role as a cock-sure detective being
trailed by a film crew who is determined to bring them down.
