"Rory O'Shea Was Here"
2005
Directed by Damien O'Donnell
A smart and sensitively
wrought film about friendship and disability, this comedic drama from
Ireland stars Steven Robertson as Michael Connolly, a twenty-something
with cerebral palsy. When Rory O'Shea, a wheelchair-bound man with
muscular dystrophy (James McAvoy) moves into where Michael is living, the
two strike up a fast friendship. With the help of a pretty aid (Romola
Garai), Rory shows Michael that there's a lot more to life than he once
thought. "The kind of inspirational movie that actually earns its
crowd-rousing response" (Hollywood Reporter).
