Rossa has a brilliantly sunny look...
the stylized clarity of something in a David Hockney painting." -
Vincent Canby, The New York Times. Director Nanni
Moretti's political comedy about the fate of Italian communism. The action follows a
politician who is injured in a car crash and suffers from amnesia. He awakens to find
himself about to play an important water polo match. While his teammates negotiate
positions and devise strategies, he leaps out of the pool to interview a succession of
bureaucrats, partyhacks and militants. "The scope of its concerns, and Moretti's
ability to express these in visual terms, is ambitious and accomplished" (Toronto
Festival of Festivals). With Nanni Moretti, Marilla Valentini,
Silvio Orlando, Alfonso Santagata, Claudio Morganti, Asia Argento. Color. Italian with English subtitles. 87 minutes.
