"Break of Dawn"
1988
Directed by Isaac Artenstein

Although this is an American made film, we placed it in our category of films from Mexico, mainly due to the star, Oscar Chavez, Mexico's great singer and actor.  Unsung hero Pedro J. Gonzalez was an immensely popular musician and radio personality in Los Angeles during the Depression. This is the factual story of a man who challenged a powerful and corrupt political system , and of his controversial trial, which exposed the paranoid hysteria of a city suddenly faced with economic ruin.  With Maria Rojo and Tony Plana. Spanish with English subtitles.
100 minutes.
