This recently remastered melodrama, based on a novel by Juan Rulfo with a screenplay by Gabriel Garcia Marquez and Carlos Fuentes, is a classic of Mexican cinema. A poor man nurses an injured gamecock back to life and back into the ring with successful results. Wealth, fame, romance and temptation follow, as the man is lured into a questionable partnership with a greedy gambler and his mistress. Spanish with English subtitles. 105 minutes.
