Fable of the
Beautiful Pigeon Fancier tells the story of Orestes, a wealthy factory
owner who falls madly in love with a married pigeon breeder. Based
on a fragment from his novel Love in the Time of Cholera, Fable of the
Beautiful Pigeon Fancier was conceived and co-written by Nobel Prize
winner Gabriel Garcia Marquez. Reteaming Garcia Marquez with director Ruy
Guerra (who began his career as an actor, starring in Werner Herzog's
masterpiece Aguirre: The Wrath of God), with whom he'd collaborated
on the earlier Erendira. "An elegant Wellesian comedy of fate
and manners" (Los Angeles Times).
