"Meet the Feebles"
1989
Directed by Peter Jackson
Deliberately tasteless and quite hilarious, Meet
the Feebles relates the events that led up to the infamous "Feebles
Variety Massacre," the day that rocked the puppet world. Director Peter
Jackson describes it as "a kind of Roger Rabbit meets Brazil,"
set in a contemporary world entirely populated by puppets--living,
breathing, eating puppets with larger-than-life human characteristics and
weaknesses. "Meet the Feebles is a darkly comic satire on greed, lust
and jealousy--part satire, soap opera and musical--that is a wildly original
feature" (Charles Coleman). 97 minutes. |
