Based on a classic novel by Stefan Zeromski, Andrzej Wajda's wartime epic concerns a Polish legion that fights under the flag of Napoleon, hoping to secure the freedom of their divided country. Stunningly shot in CinemaScope with impressive battle scenes, this was among the most expensive Polish productions of its time. An ambitious project, in both scope and theme, from one of the country's leading directors. Polish with English subtitles.  230 minutes.
