Polish director Andrzej Wajda tells a beautiful and fatalistic story of love found in the aftermath of the Holocaust. Based on the writings of Tadeusz Borowski, an Auschwitz survivor who committed suicide at the age of 29, the film follows two concentration camp survivors who have an affair while waiting repatriation after WWII.
