Kieslowski took the fifth episode from his epic Decalogue series and
expounded upon its "Thou shalt not kill" theme to create a dark, haunting
human drama. A young lawyer must grapple with the random murder committed
by his client, as well as the looming death sentence imposed by the
courts. Stars Miroslaw Baka and Krzysztof Globisz, with cinematography by
Slawomir Idziak. "Grips like a vice from the opening frame and never lets
go" (Time Out). DVD includes interviews with Slawomir Idziak, Annette
Insdorf and Agnieszka Holland, an examination of the film by writer
Antonin Liehm, the Kieslowski short doc, A Night Porter's Point of View
(1977, 17 mins.), a filmography, and the theatrical trailer. Polish
