"A Short Film About Killing"
1988
Directed by Krzystztof Kieslowski

Krzysztof Kieslowski took the fifth episode from his epic Decalogue series and expounded upon its "Thou shalt not kill" theme to create a dark, haunting human drama. A young lawyer must grapple with the random murder committed by his client, as well as the looming death sentence imposed by the courts. Stars Miroslaw Baka and Krzysztof Globisz, with cinematography by Slawomir Idziak. "Grips like a vice from the opening frame and never lets go" (Time Out). DVD includes interviews with Slawomir Idziak, Annette Insdorf and Agnieszka Holland, an examination of the film by writer Antonin Liehm, the Kieslowski short doc, A Night Porter's Point of View (1977, 17 mins.), a filmography, and the theatrical trailer.  Polish with English subtitles.  84 minutes.
