"I am Curious (Yellow)" A contoversial film that scandalized America with its overt sexuality and nudity is really a pseudo-Freudian look at the relationship between sex, politics and the body. Lena Nyman is the sociologist trying to study Swedish class structure while carrying on a steamy affair with one of her father's friends. They conduct their lovemaking in her bedroom, in front of the Royal Palace, in a tree, on the grass, in a lake. Quintessential '60s nostalgia but a film that broke many taboos and served as a vanguard of liberation. Swedish with English subtitles. |
