Considered by many to be Ingmar Bergman's greatest achievement, "Persona" is a study of madness, breakdown and transference  of identity. While at the height of her career as a famous actress, Elizabeth (Liv Ullmann) has suddenly stopped speaking. Her psychiatrist insists she retreat to a secluded seaside haven under the care of a nurse named Alma (Bibi Andersson).  There, the two women grow so close to one another, they run the risk of exchanging identities. Cinematography by Sven Nykvist. Swedish with English subtitles.
