retreating to an island off the coast, when they are charged with
collaborating with the enemy. A visually spare, emotionally powerful work about
hopelessness, betrayal and human weakness. With Liv Ullmann, Max Von Sydow and Gunnar
Bjornstrand. Cinematography by Sven Nykvist. Swedish with English subtitles.
