"Manuela Saenz, La Libertadora Del
Libertador"
2000
Directed by Diego Risquez
The story of a Peruvian fishing village in 1856, where
only oblivion and poverty are to be found. A whaling boat is docked in the
rusty port of Paita, and among the crew is Herman Melville, a young sailor
hatching up an idea for a story about a whale named Moby Dick. In the small
village lives a woman named Manuela Saenz, who 30 years earlier shocked the
continent by having a passionate love affair with Simon Bolivar, the great
Latin American hero who led the great revolution in the first half of the
19th century. Spanish with English subtitles. 97 minutes. |
