Paskaljevic's tender, funny story of the failed American Dream stars Tom Conti (Shirley Valentine) as the Spanish immigrant Alonso, who lives with his blind mother above the dingy bar he owns in Brooklyn. His comic counterpart is Bayo (Miki Monojlovic), an illegal immigrant from Montenegro who toils away at odd jobs in pursuit of the American dream. A rich ensemble piece, it is a heartwarming tale of loss, displacement and, ultimately, the power of friendship. English and Serbo-Croatian with English subtitles.  116 minutes.
